UK based contractor solutions from experts you can trust.

Research carried out by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) has found that 19% of workers have plans to quit their jobs in 2014. 10% of these people are hoping to start their own business or work as a contractor.

The research also found that:

  • 8/10 employees plan to switch jobs – 16% of these people are seeking other work opportunities because they currently feel undervalued
  • 10% want to set up their own business or use the skills gained in employment to work as a contractor
  • 17% feel their boss’s leadership skills needs improvement

The result of this survey shows us the contracting market will continue to see growth in 2014 as people leave their jobs to set up alone. It also reveals that factors in the workplace are driving people to consider self-employment.

Charles Elvin, the chief executive of the Institute Leadership and Management said “The New Year is always a popular time for workers to look ahead and think about how they can progress. Our findings show that UK employees are beginning to reassess the job market and look into a range of new opportunities, from starting a new job to developing a new business.”

He also said “The survey illustrates just how crucial it is that workers feel valued in the workplace. As many workers like to make a change at this time of year, it is important that organisations adapt to this phase by offering the chance to learn new skills and opportunities to progress wherever possible.”

I almost didn’t do anything and they put me on track to invoice and receive my payments. I can fully recommend them.”
